New Year’s Resolutions for Becoming a Better Driver in 2019
At the end of each year, many of us think of ways we could improve our lives, whether that is saving more money, getting more active, or quitting some bad habits. If you aren’t sure what you want to improve, we suggest making some resolutions to become a better driver.
Create a seatbelt rule in your car. Don’t start driving until everyone has buckled up, no matter how close your destination is.
If you have a hair trigger when it comes to road rage, it is time to calm down. Do some deep breathing before you start driving and consider counting to 10 when you feel the urge to honk or yell at another driver.
You cannot control what other drivers do, but you can be on the lookout. Stay vigilant and be aware of what other drivers are doing. Always expect the unexpected.
Keep Up with Maintenance
A poorly maintained car can be a potential road hazard. Follow the recommended maintenance schedule in your owner’s manual to make sure your car doesn’t break down in the middle of the highway.
Put Down Your Phone
If you are constantly reaching for your phone, put it someplace you can’t reach, like the glovebox. You can even put your phone on “silent” so you aren’t tempted by every ding you hear.
