When you have a tight budget for a car, you might think that you won’t be able to get many features. However, cars today, even small ones, can come well-equipped and won’t cost you a fortune. To help you find the perfect balance between affordability and great features, U.S. News & World Report gives out its Best Cars for the Money awards each year.
This year, two Kia models came home with these great awards, the compact Soul and stylish Sorento. The Best Cars for the Money awards are given out based on a variety of criteria, including reliability, safety, industry experts’ opinions, and overall value. A vehicle’s value is measured by the average price paid by consumers along with its predicted five-year cost of ownership.
“We’re honored that U.S. News named the Soul and Sorento winners within their respective categories for 2017,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “The entire Kia model line – including our iconic urban passenger vehicle and three-row SUV – offers a winning blend of sophisticated design and user-friendly technology with a consistent emphasis on value.”
Editors were impressed with the Soul because of its fun-to-drive nature, spacious interior, and great blend of power and efficiency. For the Sorento, it earned high marks thanks to its advanced technology and excellent design.
You can find both the Kia Soul and Sorento at Gossett Kia today.
We don’t know what’s more majestic, the beautiful waterfall or the 2017 Kia Sorento.
The 2017 Kia Sorento is out, and the reviews are rolling in. The latest version of this crossover defies stereotypes and brings a high-quality design and plenty of power to the road. The overall refinement and style is set to revolutionize comparable models from American automakers. Put simply, the new Kia Sorento brings a value-oriented design no competitor can match.
While many automakers have abandoned rounded edges and curves, designers stayed the course with the 2017 Sorento. Inside, an upscale interior marked by luxurious upholstery and silver trim accents. The front seats deliver excellent support and the SXL trim brings both heated and cooled front seats. The new model even brings third-row seating.
The Kia Sorento brings a 3.3-liter V6 engine that delivers a pavement-pounding 290 hp. That powerful engine also earns up to an EPA-estimated 23 mpg on the highway. An available all-wheel-drive system adds to the vehicle’s maneuverability while the maximum towing capacity tops competitors at 5,000 pounds.
At the end of the day, the Sorento is a midsize crossover with a utility-driven design. The easily accessible hatch brings up to 73 cubic feet of interior space with both back rows folded down.

2017 Kia Sorento
Fresh off a brilliant redesign, the 2017 Kia Sorento emerges as a refreshing choice for your next family vehicle. Kia has added more cabin space this time around plus a newly-designed dashboard. These changes combine nicely with the Sorento’s overall design to make for a well-balanced SUV that is ready to rise to any occasion.
The intelligent design of the all-new Sorento is manifest in its practical and beautiful exterior design. Engineers gave the Sorento a wider stance and longer wheelbase. It’s a change that not only produces a more elegant shape and profile but also improves handling. The available Smart Power Liftgate allows you to open the liftgate when your hands are full using just your foot.
The Sorento proves more than capable in the performance department. There are three engines to choose from, including the 3.3-liter V6 that—combined with the available Dynamax AWD system—is capable of towing up to 5,000 pounds. Not to mention, the AWD system adds Torque Vectoring Cornering Control to your arsenal of features. The result is a vehicle that handles with unbelievable balance and response.

Do you have a child who is approaching driving age? If so, you might be asking yourself, “What’s the best vehicle for a teen driver?” We have the answer…
No High Performance
A performance vehicle with lots of quickness–and we are talking more than 300 horsepower–is probably not a good idea for a teen driver. Performance vehicles normally have touchier throttles and this can be unwieldy for a teen. On the other hand, an old beater that can’t get out of its own way can actually be a safety liability. Find a happy medium when it comes to performance!
Though it may seem like a tech-savvy vehicle would prove to be more distracting, this may not be the case. Hands-free calling and voice commands for entertainment help teens keep their hands on the wheel.
Of course, the most important feature when it comes to deciding the best vehicle for a teen driver is safety. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is one of the organizations responsible for testing the overall and crashworthiness of vehicles. Based their ratings, they’ve created a list of vehicles that have passed with a Good rating here. It’s the best place to begin your search!

Buying a pre-owned car is a smart choice. You get to skip out on that initial depreciation and still drive a great car. But if you’re looking for a pre-owned car that will give you the most bang for your buck, check out the Kia Sorento.
The Sorento just earned the Best Pre-Owned Value Award from TrueCar. This award tracked 2014 model year vehicles for sale this year that are expected to retain more of their value than the competition. The Sorento came away with the best projected value in the midsize utility segment.
“Kia is honored that the Sorento is being recognized by TrueCar for its value in the pre-owned midsize-utility segment,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA, in a statement. “With its extensive list of features backed by an industry-leading warranty, Sorento offers world-class design, technology and quality combined with the peace of mind that comes with making a smart purchasing decision.”

Football is finally back, and Kia couldn’t be more excited. Partnering with NBC’s Sunday Night Football, Kia has started a new marketing campaign for the Sorento CUV. This football season is bound to be unlike anything ever before.
According to Kia, the Kia and Sunday Night Football partnership means there will be three new ad spots right away. These include “Participation,” “Great Game,” and “Pants.” Celebrating the qualities of the Sorento than make it great for hauling football gear, driving to games, and tailgating, this ad campaign couldn’t be more about the game.
“Sunday Night Football attracts the largest primetime audience and provides an excellent opportunity to connect with football fans and showcase the premium utility experience of Kia’s largest and most capable CUV ever,” said Tim Chaney, vice president of marketing communications, KMA.
These ads are made by David&Goliath, Kia’s advertising agency. Sorento spots will be appearing now, and last throughout the season.
In the competitive, turbulent, and unpredictable auto industry, it can be tough to stay on top–but Kia Motors America seems to be managing. Kia Motors’s record August sales show the company continues to gain momentum in the US.

Buyers appear to be most attracted to the Kia Soul. The nameplate exploded in popularity and sold an all-time monthly sales high of 17,108 units. Other popular vehicles in Kia’s repertoire in the month of August included the Optima, at 13,980 units sold, and the Sorento, which came in at 10,211 units. In total, Kia sold 58,897 vehicles this August–a staggering 7.7% increase over the same sales period last year. Year-to-date, Kia’s sales are up 5.4%.
“Kia has outpaced the industry all year, and that trend continued in August as we set our fourth consecutive monthly sales record despite significant turbulence in the stock market and not having the benefit of Labor Day weekend sales,” said Chief Operating Officer and EVP of Kia Motors America Michael Sprague. He went on to praise the ever-popular Kia Soul for its success in the industry.
The 2016 Kia Soul is expected to go on sale sometime mid-2016, if you’d like to see what all the fuss is about.
