One of the hottest cars to roll across the stage at the recent Chicago Auto Show was the 2017 Kia Niro. Kia calls it a hybrid utility vehicle. A sharp-looking crossover with roof rails and rear skid plate, the Niro certainly exudes a utility vibe.
The 2017 Kia Niro also looks distinctly like a Kia and this is a very good thing. Kia’s signature honeycomb mesh grille adorns the front end while clean lines and economy of design complete the picture.
2017 Kia Niro
The 2017 Kia Niro offers Prius-like economy. But in a number of ways, it outdoes the popular Toyota model. It has a nicer cargo area, plus tons of torque—195 lb-ft in fact. That’s considerably more than the Prius.
The 2017 Kia Niro is the latest entry among the EcoDynamic Kia lineup that the automaker has committed to making. In fact, Kia has plans to roll out 20 EcoDynamic models by 2020. If they all have as much spirit and appeal as the Niro, the automotive market is in for a treat.
Does daily drive to and from work have you feeling down? If you changed your perspective and saw it as an opportunity instead of wasted time, you could even start to look forward to it. Sound crazy? Check out these tips for improving your commute.
# 1 – Are you a music aficionado? Use your time in the car to discover new music! Pandora is great for exposing you to music you might like.
# 2 – Collect your thoughts! Instead of letting traffic stir you up and stress you out, use your time in the car to think through a current problem or brainstorm for work. Make voice memos on your phone as you come up with ideas.
# 3 – Audio books can revolutionize your commute. It’s especially useful to choose non-fiction books. If you feel like the time you spend on your commute is wasted, why not turn it into an educational experience?
# 4 – Make it the ultimate “me-time.” Turn your phone off, roll the windows down, and just enjoy the fact that for the next minutes, all you have to do is drive.
Tire rotation is one of those things that are easy to do at home if you have the right tools—in this case, a jack and a socket wrench. Plus, it makes your tires last a lot longer. You could take your car to a mechanic to do it, but why drop the cash if you don’t have to? Follow these tips on how to rotate tires and you’ll have the task done in no time.
When you rotate your tires, you first have to determine whether you have directional or non-directional tires. Directional tires have a tread pattern that has to go a certain direction, while non-directional tires can go either way. If the tires are directional, they’ll be marked with an arrow on the sidewall.
If you have directional tires, just switch them front to back; front right switches with back right, while front left switches with back left. With non-directional, you can cross them over—put the front left on the back right and the front right on the back left (and vice versa).
From here, you just need to know how to change a tire, and make sure you keep careful track of which tire is which!
The Kia Sedona and Optima were named to the KBB Top 16 Family Cars List for 2016, which was released in early February.
2016 Kia Sedona Interior
A group of KBB.com editors came together to find the 16 most family-friendly cars of the year, taking into consideration factors such as safety, comfort, spaciousness, cargo area, convenience, and how child seats fit in the car seats.
KBB’s executive editorial director Jack R. Nerad said the two Kias had features families look for such as “a full list of features, a high level of build quality and low acquisition costs.”
Kelley Blue Book cited the Sedona minivan’s stylish appearance, available third row seating, safety features like its advanced airbag system, and great overall value.
The Optima, also the recipient of the 2016 Midsize Sedan Best Buy Award, was praised for its many standard and available features, including innovative safety tech like lane departure warning and automatic braking. Experts also appreciated the Optima’s excellent fuel economy, which helps families on the go save money and make fewer stops at the pump.
Do you like your car to be nice and toasty before you leave for the day? Do you hold the belief that your car needs some time to “warm up” if it’s less than 32 degrees Fahrenheit outside?
If so, you’re probably one of the many drivers guilty of idling their car in the winter to warm it up, which is widely considered a necessity for it to run properly.
But in truth, this practice is entirely unnecessary, harmful to your vehicle, and actually not even the fastest way to warm up your vehicle’s interior.
Unless your car was made more than 20 years ago, it barely needs any time for the engine and oil to be ready to go–about 30 seconds, in fact. Idling for longer than that can be damaging to both the engine and catalytic converter.
And if you’re thinking that you’d still selfishly like to warm up your car just to have a cozy interior–know that the inside actually heats up faster once you just start driving and are inside it.

If you’re anything like us, you anticipate the release of every new Kia model, and that’s why we’re excited to report that spy photos have been captured of the upcoming 2017 Kia Picanto–the first images of the new car.
Of course, the vehicle has a camouflage tarp obscuring some of the finer details, but these images still reveal quite a bit about the new vehicle.
It’s easy to see that the new Kia Picanto will have some sort of new LED daytime running lights, as well as potentially-LED rear lights. And in general, the body seems to be redesigned but not to a wild degree. It will likely fit in with the other modern styling seen in its segment.
You can check out the 2017 Kia Picanto spy photos here, thanks to Autoevolution. The vehicle isn’t scheduled to hit the road until 2017, so it’s likely that we’ll start to get updates on its specific stats soon.
In the meantime, to check out a current, available Kia model, visit us anytime here at Gossett Kia.
